Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul

Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul graduated with a Master of Business Administration from Ramkhamhaeng University in 2004 and a Master of Science in Human Resource Development from the University of Manchester, the United Kingdom, in 2012. She currently serves as Chairperson of the Arnoma Grand Hotel Group and is a co-founder of G Steel Group, one of Thailand’s largest integrated steel producers.
In addition to the business operation, Khunying Patama provided support for various organizations, such as donating to the construction of Chulalongkorn Hospital, Siriraj Hospital, Ramathibodi Hospital, and Chakri Naruebodindra Medical Institute (Faculty of Medicine Ramathibodi Hospital), as well as funding to numerous organizations. She also served as President of the “Phurukhun Paendin” (People who are grateful to the country) Club, Chairperson of the Moral Center, Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Contemporary Art Promotion Fund, Central Committee Member of the Ramathibodi Foundation under the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, President of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, and Board Member of the Foundation for the Blind in Thailand under Royal Patronage.
In sports, Khunying Patama has dedicated herself and made contributions to Thailand’s and international sports, continually bringing pride to Thailand. She is a former President of the Badminton Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage and currently holds the title of Honorary Lifetime President of the Association. At present, she serves as President of the Badminton World Federation and has supported Badminton and other numerous sports in Thailand.
In the global sport organizations, she serves as a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Chair of the Culture and Olympic Heritage Commission, Member of the Olympic Solidarity Commission, Member of the Executive Council of the Association of National Olympic Committees, and Advisory Committee to the Asia Olympic Committee.
In recognition of her dedication to continuous contributions to culture, music, and sports, Khunying Patama was conferred with Honorary Doctorate of Music from Mahidol University in 2013, Honorary Doctorate of Philosophy in General Management from Ramkhamhaeng University in 2014, and Honorary Doctorate of Arts in Sports Development and Community Recreation from the Institute of Physical Education (Thailand National Sports University) in 2017, for example.
Furthermore, she received awards both in Thailand and abroad, including the International Valuable Sports Executive Award on National Sports Day in 2023, Woman of the Year in 2022, 2023, and 2025 from the Bangkok Post, and the “Guirlande d’Honneur,” the highest prestigious award of the Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs (FICTS), in recognition of her contributions to sports, culture, arts, and education.
For her contributions to culture, music, and particularly sports made until the present, the Mahidol University Council, at its 616th meeting on Wednesday, 21st May 2025, unanimously resolved that a Doctorate of Science, honoris causa (Sports Science) be conferred on Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, for her recognition.
